Who are you and what do you do at incentivesmart?
I am a Director and Founder of incentivesmart and other than managing the business my role is heavily focused around product development and creativity. My excellent team keep the day-to-day wheels turning whilst I concentrate on working with our development team to ensure that our products and services are cutting edge. I still have a very hands-on approach with clients and work closely with our Account Managers on a daily basis to ensure that we are delivering on our mission to be amazing at what we do.
What have you worked on recently that you’re really proud of?
Other than client work, which I’m always proud of, we are currently working on a charity project called Ride For Willen to raise £100,000 for Willen Hospice. Ride for Willen is an 800 mile charity ride from Paris to Nice. The ride takes place over 8 days in September and will be made more challenging (but also more scenic) by taking in some of the iconic mountain climbs of the Tour De France including Alpe D’Huez and the monstrous Mont Ventoux. As part of our effort towards the target we have launched an art project called RIDE.EAT.DRINK to sell prints and original cycling artwork contributed by local students, artists, graphic designers and photographers. The project website is due to go live soon at www.rideeatdrink.com but for more information ‘like’ the facebook page. www.facebook.com/rideeatdrink.
What’s the best thing about working for incentivesmart?
To work with such great people! It seems like a cliché to say it but I’m lucky to have a great team here and they are the ones who deserve all the credit for the great work we do with our clients on a day-to-day basis. In all my years in business I can hand on heart say that my current team are the best I’ve worked with, a real dream team.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I am looking forward to seeing the growth and evolution of incentivesmart over the next five years whilst retaining our small agency charm. We have some big ambitions but my dream for incentivesmart has never been to be the biggest company in our industry, nor the most profitable; just to be the best. I’m relishing the challenge of driving that vision forward over the coming years with the best people in my team.
What’s your favourite way to spend your weekend?
I have two great passions in my life outside of work. One is my little family and the other is riding my road bike, so my ideal weekend would be a cycling in the mornings taking in some amazing scenery around the Buckinghamshire countryside and then some quality family time, which usually means lots and lots of laughing and fun. We’re just big kids at heart.
What’s your mantra?
When I was at school we had a school motto that has stuck with me throughout my life, partly because I was given so many ‘lines’ at school and had to write it thousands of times over, but also because it is so true. The motto was in Latin and read ‘Quas Dederis Solas Semper Habebis Opes’ which roughly translates as ‘it is what you give that you will keep as eternal riches’ or in other words you get out what you put in. It has served me well in business as it does when I’m climbing a mountain on my bike.
